Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Australian Open 2026 : 2026 Australian Open by Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz Tennis Dimakh defeated Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals of the tournament to reach the finals. This is the first time Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Australian Open final. Despite the injury, the 22-year-old Alcaraz reached the final on Friday, defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 7-5 in a match that lasted more than five hours.



Carlos Alcaraz was injured during the match and took a timeout. Alexander Zverev was visibly upset with Alcaraz’s decision to take a timeout. He said the Spaniard had cramps and should not have been allowed to take a timeout in the middle of the game. Alexander Zverev was seen arguing with the officials while Alcaraz received treatment from his physio.


In a five-set match that lasted five hours and 27 minutes, Carlos Alcaraz eventually prevailed and advanced to his first Australian Open final. After the match, both players hugged and put aside the grievances that had arisen during the match.


Alcaraz reacts after the win


After the win, Alcaraz reacted, saying, “No matter what you’re struggling with, you’re going through something, no matter what happens, you always have to believe in yourself. I was struggling in the middle of the third set. Physically, it was one of the toughest matches I’ve played in my short career, but I’ve gotten through it.”



Alcaraz continued, “I’ve played a match like this before,” adding that “I knew what I had to do. I had to put my mind into the match. I think I did that. I fought until the last ball. I knew I had my chances. In the fifth set, I was excited, you know, but I was very proud of myself, my emotions and the way I came back.”


Will Alcaraz make history?


Novak Djokovic has congratulated Alcaraz on reaching the final ahead of his semi-final against Siner. Carlos Alcaraz will face the winner of the second semi-final. The other semi-final will be played between Janic Siner and Novak Djokovic. If Alcaraz wins the final, he will become the youngest player to complete a career Grand Slam in men’s singles.
