Nayanthara , who won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress, has penned a heartwarming note on the win. The Government of Tamil Nadu announced the winners of the state government’s Film Awards for the years 2016 to 2022 on Thursday. Actors Suriya, Dhanush, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Karthi, and Manju Warrier, among others, took home the best actor honors.



Nayanthara says she is ‘blessed’ as she wins the top honorNayanthara won the Best Actress award for 2017 for her role in the film ‘Aramm’. In ‘Aramm’, Nayanthara plays the role of a district collector. The Lady Superstar took to her Instagram handle to share her joy at winning the prestigious honor.



“Blessed,” she said.



Reacting to Nayanthara’s win, her home production banner said, “We are incredibly proud to share that Nayanthara has won the Best Actress Award at the Tamil Nadu State Government Film Awards for her powerful performance in Aramm. Her portrayal of a determined district collector in Aramm was not just a performance but a voice for justice—strong, compassionate, and unforgettable.”



Karthi won the Best Actor award for the year for his film ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’.



Meanwhile, Nayanthara’s film ‘Netrikann’ also won the 2021 Best Film About Women Empowerment (special prize). Another film, ‘Koozhangal’, which she produced with her husband, Vignesh Sivan, also won the 2020 Best Film award. Actor Chellapandi won the Best Child Artist award for the same film.



What’s next for Nayanthara?On the work front, Nayanthara will be next seen in ‘Patriot’. The film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, also features superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty in lead roles. Actors Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban are also part of the cast. The film, touted to be a thriller, is slated for release on April 23.
