‘Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies’, featuring Roshan Mathew, Arjun Ashokan, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath in leading roles, faces a slowdown as it nears its second weekend. Released on January 22, the film, inspired by the WWE, opened to a great response in the initial days; however, as it approaches the second weekend, footfall has significantly decreased.
On Friday, January 30, the film collected Rs 44 lakh, according to a report by Sacnilk. Despite it being the ninth day, the film struggled to earn strong numbers. The film had an overall Malayalam occupancy of 10.24%, with night shows recording the highest occupancy at 17.26%. The release of new films, including Jeethu Joseph’s thriller ‘Valathu Vashathe Kallan’, has significantly impacted the earnings of ‘Chatha Pacha’.
By the end of the ninth day, January 30, the film’s India net collection stood at Rs 14.29 crore. The film has appealed to overseas audiences and has collected even more than its domestic total. The overseas collection currently stands at Rs 14.6 crore. With this, the worldwide collection has touched Rs 31 crore. The upcoming days, especially this weekend, are crucial for the film.
Everything about ‘Chatha Pacha’‘Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies’ is directed by debutant Adhvaith Nayar. The film, inspired by WWE, is set against the backdrop of the wrestling culture of Kochi. Actors Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath are seen in the leading roles. Superstar Mammootty appears in a cameo role in the film.
TOI has ranked the film 3 out of 5, and the review reads, “Adhvaith Nayar's Chatha Pacha is a film with its share of ups and downs. There are portions that are highly entertaining, followed by stretches where the narrative seems to jump all over the place. While the decision to limit the personal interactions between the two lead characters is understandable—given the chosen premise and central conflict—those interactions could have been developed more effectively. The basic storyline itself is not new, but the incorporation of costume wrestling into the narrative adds an interesting dimension. However, it is not the high-voltage WWE-inspired film that was promised.”
