Mobile Effect on Children Height: Children not increasing in height is a matter of concern for every parent. There are many reasons behind this like disturbed daily routine of children, lack of nutrients. But do you know that one of the reasons for this is excessive use of mobile. Yes, even though its wires are not directly connected to each other, somewhere the connection between the two is deep. It is important for every parent to know about this.
According to the National Family and Health Survey conducted in the year 2021, the average height of adults in India is decreasing. There are generally people of various heights in the country. The reason for which are different genetic groups. But wrong lifestyle and nutrition are largely responsible for the decrease in height. The height of adult men in India has decreased by an average of 1.10 cm. Whereas in adult women this figure is 0.42 cm.
Now let’s talk about the connection between mobile and length. Actually, height may not be directly affected by mobile, but by lack of sleep. According to a research by Mayo Clinic, there is a possibility of lack of sleep affecting the production of Human Growth Hormone i.e. HGH. This hormone helps people to increase their height. HGH is made by the pituitary gland in the brain. The HGH hormone is secreted at night during sleep. During this time this hormone develops bones, tissues and muscles. But in children who do not get enough sleep, the level of this hormone also starts decreasing. Due to which the growth and height of children is affected.

It is true that genetics have the biggest impact on height. Gene variants most affect children’s growth as well as their height. But low levels of growth hormone can increase the risk of stunting. These days children remain busy on mobile and social media. They have no idea when five minutes turns into one to one and a half hours. In such a situation, they do not sleep till late night. Due to which they do not get enough sleep and less growth hormone is produced.
Blue light emitted from smartphones, laptops, computers and other digital devices reduces the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. This is the reason why watching mobile till late night starts disrupting sleep. This also worsens the quality of sleep. Not only this, deficiency of melatonin can cause serious diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Lack of sleep not only affects the height of children, but also affects the mental health of children. Lack of sleep affects children’s ability to think and understand. They are unable to adjust properly. Their creativity starts decreasing. There is difficulty in focusing on anything. They start having difficulty in learning new things. Lack of sleep also has a negative impact on the nature of children. They start becoming irritable. Along with this, problems of mood swings also start occurring.
