Budget 2026: In the Union Budget 2026, the government has taken a major step to promote the creative industry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that content creator labs will be established in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges across the country. The aim is to strengthen the orange economy and connect young people with modern digital skills.

Government Focus on the AVGC Sector

During her budget speech, the Finance Minister stated that India's Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector is expanding rapidly. It is estimated that this industry will require approximately 2 million professionals by 2030.  Keeping this in mind, AVGC-based content creator labs will be established in schools and colleges in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai.

Skill Development and Job Preparedness

These labs will teach students modern skills such as content creation, digital storytelling, game design, and visual technologies. The government believes that this will provide young people with new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship alongside their studies.

Other Announcements Related to Health, Education, and Tourism

The budget also included plans for the establishment of an Ayurveda center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and strengthening veterinary colleges and diagnostic labs through global partnerships.  Additionally, there was a mention of promoting green tourism by developing eco-friendly mountain treks.

A New Strategy from Education to Employment

The Finance Minister also proposed the formation of a high-level ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ standing committee. This committee will work towards making the service sector a strong foundation for a ‘Developed India’ and aims to secure a 10% share for India in global services by 2047. The study will also examine the impact of emerging technologies like AI on employment and the necessary skills required. These announcements made in Budget 2026 are considered a significant step towards opening new avenues for India's youth by connecting education, creativity, and employment.
