Mumbai: Five rounds were fired at Bollywood director Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu on late Saturday night. As per reports, the bullets were shot by an unknown individual. Following the incident, a case was registered with the Juhu police. The unknown assailant was charged under the sections of the Arms Act.


Soon after the fire was opened near the director’s building, the crime branch and the forensic unit rushed to the spot. The cops immediately cordoned off the area and increased security at the location. Senior officers also arrived at the location after the incident.  “A forensic team and a ballistic expert team have visited the spot. Meanwhile, police security has been enhanced outside Shetty’s residence following the firing,” said an officer from Juhu police station, according to Times of India.


“Someone fired on the building. Zonal police and the crime branch are investigating,” said Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti. The cops informed that the investigation was underway and that they are examining the incident from all possible angles, including connections to international gangs.


A video released showcased evidence of bullet penetration on the balcony of the residence, now barricaded by the cops. Meanwhile, the director and his family have not released any statement relating to the firing incident.


Rohit Shetty is a popular filmmaker, known for movies like Singham and Golmaal. 


A similar shooting incident had occurred outside Salman Khan’s residence in 2024. Two assailants on a bike opened fire and fled the scene.
