Bareilly: Former UP City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri has announced to launch a big political and social movement against the SC/ST Act. He said that there will be protests in Delhi from February 7. Agnihotri made this announcement after taking blessings from Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand. Alankar Agnihotri met Shankaracharya at Vidya Math in Kedarghat on Sunday evening and while speaking to the media said that this step is not a part of any political strategy, but is the result of awareness of social conditions and the justice system of the country.
Alankar Agnihotri’s strong reaction on SC-ST Act
Agnihotri said that the SC-ST Act implemented in 1989 has become the biggest “black law” in the country. He claims that about 95 percent of the cases registered under this law are fake, due to which a large section of the society has to suffer mental, social and economic harassment. He warned that if the central government did not withdraw the SC-ST Act by February 6, the government would be “put in a chartered plane and sent back to Gujarat.” This statement shows his decisive stance towards the movement.
Target the central government, not the state government
Agnihotri clarified that his struggle was never against the state government. He said, the fight is actually with the central government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are trying to destabilize the state government and are putting immense pressure on the state administration. He also alleged that efforts were being made to send all the state funds to Gujarat, and he would raise his voice against it.
Alankar Agnihotri Just like Sunetra Pawar becoming Deputy CM, this movement can be seen as a step towards political stability and social justice. He said that the purpose of meeting Shankaracharya was not from political but from social and religious point of view to seek blessings. Along with this, while referring to the decision to resign from his post, he said that this step was necessary to maintain the respect of the symbols of Sanatan culture and to stop their insult.
Concern over UGC new regulation and caste discrimination
On January 29, the Supreme Court had put a stay on the new UGC Regulation, 2026. After this, Agnihotri expressed concern over the institutional abuse of caste-based discrimination in education. He warned that such misuse could have serious social consequences, which could even lead to internal unrest in the country. He said,
Agnihotri told the media that public awareness, peaceful protests and legal means will be used in the movement starting from February 7 in Delhi. He says that the aim of the movement is only to improve law and ensure social justice, and not to spread violence or anarchy.
