New Delhi: Zimbabwe defeated the Netherlands by 29 runs while Nepal beat the UAE by seven wickets and Oman won against Sri Lanka A in warm-up games on Tuesday before the T20 World Cup.

Ryan Burl’s half-century and Richard Ngarava’s three wickets set up Zimbabwe’s victory at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium.

Zimbabwe took first strike and posted 178 for 9 with Burl hitting 50 off 31 balls, including six boundaries and Dion Myers scoring 32.

Seamer Logan van Beek claimed 3 for 22 in three overs for the Netherlands, who then only managed 149 in reply, getting bowled out on the final ball of the match.

Zimbabwe’s opening bowler Ngarava picked up 3 for 11 while leg-spinner Graeme Cremer gave support with 2 for 15. Van Beek made a valiant effort with three sixes in a 31-run knock off 40 balls but it wasnlt enough.

Nepal win

Deependra Singh Airee and Aarif Sheikh scored fifties as Nepal dominated the UAE at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

UAE posted 145 for six as Sohaib Khan top-scored with 38. Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and seamer Karan KC each claimed two wickets.

In their chase, Nepal slumped to 45 for three after losing Kushal Bhurtel and skipper Rohit Paudel cheaply.

But Airee’s unbeaten 50 off 31 balls and Sheikh’s 61 not out off 37 balls put together an unbroken third wicket stand of 103 runs to guide them home.

At Colombo’s Colts Club ground, Oman won by five wickets against Sri Lanka A, who lost by two overs to spare unable to defended 145 for nine.

Aamir Kaleem’s unbeaten 80 off 47 balls, including eight boundaries and three sixes, enabled Oman to win.
