Manchester United youngster Sekou Kone has made an immediate impact at Lausanne Sport following his loan switch to the club. The 19-year-old will remain with the Swiss outfit for the remainder of the campaign as he looks to further his development.

The Daily Mailreports that the midfielder has wasted no time in making his mark, with coaching staff already hugely impressed by his technical prowess in possession. There's also considerable enthusiasm surrounding his ability to win back the ball.

Kone had been working with Lausanne's senior squad throughout January before his temporary transfer was rubber-stamped earlier this week. He'll get the chance to test himself in European competition, with his new employers still involved in the UEFA Conference League.

Lausanne are set to take on SK Sigma Olomouc in the forthcoming play-off round. Kone has joined forces with fellow United prospect Enzo Kana-Biyik, who is also spending time on loan at the Swiss side.

He could make his bow for Lausanne in Sunday's clash with St. Gallen. His temporary spell is understood to be seen as something of a benchmark for the Lausanne-United alliance, giving both parties an opportunity to assess how fruitful their broader multi-club arrangement might prove.

United will be keeping a close eye on Kone's development, particularly given the requirement for midfield additions this summer. Casemiro announced earlier this month that he will depart when his deal runs out at the end of the season, drawing the curtain on a four-year stint at the club.

Midfielder kone arrived at Old Trafford for £1million from Guidars in his homeland of Mali in 2024 and has now become the most recent academy talent to depart on loan. During the January transfer window, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, Ethan Wheatley, Gabriele Biancheri and James Scanlon all secured temporary switches to EFL sides, whilst Jacob Devaney joined St Mirren until the end of the campaign.

In terms of arrivals, it was a subdued month at M16, with Michael Carrick concentrating on driving for Premier League glory with his existing squad. The Red Devils return to Premier League duty on Saturday when they host Tottenham at home (12:30pm).
