YouTube's revenue tops $60B in 2025, outpaces Netflix

YouTube's total revenue crossed the $60 billion mark in 2025, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai revealed during an earnings call on February 4.
The figure, which includes both ad and subscription income, highlights the rapid growth of the Google-owned video platform.
To put things into perspective, Netflix reported a revenue of $45.2 billion for the same year.

Pichai noted that YouTube is seeing strong growth in subscription revenue, especially for YouTube Music Premium.
He also announced the upcoming launch of new YouTube TV plans with over 10 genre-specific packages to give subscribers more choice and flexibility.
This aligns with Alphabet's ongoing efforts to expand its digital content offerings and enhance user experiences across platforms.
Ad revenues grow by 8.7% in Q4 2025
Financial performance
Though Google doesn't disclose YouTube's overall revenues every quarter, it does share the platform's advertising sales figures.
These grew by 8.7% to $11.4 billion in Q4 2025, from $10.5 billion in the same period last year.
The income from YouTube's subscription services like YouTube Premium and YouTube TV is included with Google's broader subscriptions, platforms, and devices business which also includes revenues from Pixel devices family among other products/services.
Over 325 million paid subscriptions across consumer services
Subscriber growth
Pichai said that the company now has 325 million paid subscriptions across consumer services, led by strong adoption of Google One and YouTube Premium.
To further boost this growth, YouTube launched a lower-cost subscription tier called Premium Lite last year.
Priced at ₹89 per month, Premium Lite allows viewers to watch ad-free videos in certain categories but comes with some restrictions like ads on music content and no background play/downloads for offline viewing.
AI transforming YouTube experience
Tech integration
Pichai also highlighted how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the YouTube experience for creators and viewers alike.
He said over a million channels have used their new AI creation tools to supercharge creativity.
Further, Google chief business officer Philipp Schindler revealed that YouTube Shorts now gets over 200 billion daily views and earns more revenue per watch hour than traditional in-stream ads on YouTube in many markets including the US.
YouTube working to become premier shopping destination
Strategic goals
Schindler also said that YouTube is working to make itself a premier shopping destination with innovations like shoppable ad formats.
The company is also expanding its creator partnership hub to help brands find creators and build campaigns.
Pichai revealed that viewers watched over 700 million hours of podcasts on living room devices as of October 2025, a whopping 75% increase from the same month last year.
