New Delhi: Delhi Capitals would be aiming their maiden title when they lock horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final on Thursday in Vadodara. The Capitals reached their fourth successive final after beating Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator clash and set up the final clash against one-time champions Bengaluru.

The Capitals have been unfortunate in the last four seasons as the side has managed to reach the final in each of the seasons but failed to lift the trophy. As far the meeting between the Capitals and Royal Challengers is concerned, the franchises met in the 2024 final but the Challengers had the last laugh.

Delhi’s fourth WPL final

The inaugural edition in 2023 and the last edition in 2025 was won by Mumbai Indians after defeating the Capitals in both the editions. In the finale this evening, the side led by Jemimah Rodrigues would want to give it their best shot and aim at breaking their jinx of failing at the final hurdle against the Smriti Mandhana-led Bengaluru side which has been brilliant all through the season.

Meanwhile ahead of the summit clash, former Indian cricketer Saba Karim backed the runners-up of the last edition saying that they look stronger than the Royal Challengers this season and have all the chances in their hands to lift the coveted trophy. After beginning the season with two losses, Delhi bounced back in style getting wins after wins to land up in the tournament finale.

Speaking on JioHotstar, Karim said that the Capitals have looked like the most consistent side in the season and will surely give a tough challenge to the Royal Challengers. He further mentioned that Delhi have covered all the areas perfectly to bag a win in the final game of the WPL 2026. Delhi are playing under a new captain because of which the team environment looks fabulous making this a golden chance to win WPL.
