Health Corner: Unhealthy lifestyle and lack of balanced diet can increase stomach problems. Not eating on time, eating too fast, and excessive consumption of fried or spicy foods affect the digestive system and cause acidity.
Symptoms like sour belching, heaviness in the stomach, burning sensation in the chest and throat, fatigue, headache, indigestion, and gurgling in the stomach are signs of acidity. Sometimes burning sensation in hands and feet, loss of appetite, fever and itching may also occur.
Eating new grains, sesame seeds, urad dal, horse gram, oil, spices, kanji, sour-spicy and heavy things can cause acidity. Sleeping immediately after meals, taking frequent baths, and drinking water between meals can also aggravate the problem.
According to Charak Samhita, salty foods like horse gram, gram flour and flour are heavy, hence they should be avoided. New rice is heavy in nature, hence it takes time to digest. It is beneficial to use old rice only after washing it thoroughly.
– It is beneficial to take three grams of Pippali powder with half a teaspoon of honey before meals.
– Drinking half a glass of lemon water in the evening can be beneficial.
– Boil myrobalan, baheda, amla and liquorice (mix all 20 grams in equal quantity) in a glass of water and after it cools down, drink it in the morning with a spoonful of honey.
– Mix equal quantity of myrobalan, pippali, ground coriander and dry grapes and take it with one spoon of honey.
– Grind asparagus, Giloy vine and liquorice in equal quantities and take one spoonful of the powder twice a day before meals.
