Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken an important and far-reaching decision in the interest of animal farmers. Now there will be less dependence on expensive medicines for the treatment of animals in the state, because veterinary medicine centers will be established in every development block. Affordable and quality medicines will be made available for animals at these centres. This initiative of the government is being taken on the lines of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra, so that veterinary facilities can easily reach rural areas and animal husbandry can be made more profitable.

Direct benefits to cattle farmers

With the opening of these veterinary medicine centres, animal farmers will no longer have to go to distant cities for treatment. Medicines required for animals will be available locally at reasonable rates. This will not only reduce the cost of treatment, but timely treatment will also improve the health of the livestock.

Requirements for application

Chief Veterinary Officer of Lucknow, Dr. Suresh Kumar said that some mandatory conditions have been set for opening the veterinary medicine centre. The applicant will have to submit the name of the pharmacist and its valid registration certificate, proof of minimum 120 square feet space for the shop, certificate of drug sale license.

Candidates wishing to set up a veterinary center will have to deposit an application fee of Rs 5,000. The entire application process has been kept online, so that transparency is maintained and time is saved. Interested applicants can apply by visiting the respective portal.

Who will get priority?

According to Dr. Suresh Kumar, in this scheme, priority will be given to eligible beneficiaries associated with Pradhan Mantri Krishak Samridhi Kendra and cooperative societies. The scheme will be implemented under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Program (LHDCP) of the Government of India.

Animal husbandry will become more profitable

The government believes that timely availability of affordable medicines will reduce the mortality rate of animals, increase production capacity and improve the income of animal farmers. This step will also play an important role in strengthening dairy, milk production and rural economy.
