The great British seaside is an iconic part of UK life, and more people are looking to snap up propertiesby the sea. But one particularly pretty peninsula located along the South coast of England has become increasingly popular with the wealthy.
Known for its picturesque scenery, buying a property here doesn't come cheap. Sandbanks in Poole, Dorset, commonly referred to as a "millionaire's playground", tops the list of the most expensive locations to buy property in the UK, with an average asking price of £1,282,565, according to Rightmove.
Celebrities can't get enough of the area, with ex-football manager Harry Redknapp and son Jamie Redknapp thought to have properties there, and former residents such asLiam Gallagher.
Other coastal hotspots in the UK include Padstow in Cornwall, Lymington near the New Forest and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
Compare The Market says Southwold in Suffolk is the best coastal town in the UK to buy a second property, reports Ideal Home.
Having a second home became increasingly popular after the COVID-19 pandemic, with other seaside towns, such as Brighton, experiencing a surge in popularity.
Russell Galley, managing director, Halifax, said: "Our ongoing love affair with living by the sea shows few signs of abating.
"Homes on the coast have long attracted a premium price, and this was no different in 2021, with the move towards working from home being an ongoing influence is where people choose to live."
He adds: "Whether it's a lifestyle sought, the scenery or the sea air, when it comes to buying homes; we really do love to be beside the seaside."
