Nowadays, many people are troubled by the problem of uric acid. This problem often occurs due to consumption of unhealthy and purine rich foods. In such a situation, to control the level of uric acid, people are often advised to follow a healthy lifestyle like taking a healthy diet, doing regular exercise, hydrating the body. Due to increase in its level in the body, people face many problems like pain in the joints, swelling, redness of the skin, rashes and prickling sensation and many people have pain in the toes, but why does this happen? This question often comes in people’s mind. In such a situation, let us know why there is pain in the toes due to high uric acid?
When the amount of uric acid in the body exceeds normal, instead of dissolving in the blood, it forms small crystals (Urate Crystals). These crystals are the root of the real problem.
The toe is the lowest part of the body and the temperature there remains slightly lower than the rest of the body. Uric acid crystals freeze quickly in low temperatures, so they start accumulating there first.
The big toe joint is quite small. When uric acid crystals accumulate there, swelling and severe pain start to be felt quickly due to less space.
These crystals enter the joint and cause inflammation. Due to this, there is severe pain and the joint becomes red and hot. There is difficulty even in walking or keeping one’s feet up. In medical language it is called Gout Attack.
Often people suddenly experience severe pain in the thumb at night or early in the morning, because at night the body becomes a little dehydrated and blood circulation slows down. This increases the possibility of crystal formation.
