New Delhi. Police arrested sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati on Saturday. This action has been taken due to the death of a 25 year old youth after falling into an open pit in Janakpuri. According to police, the sub-contractor was informed about the accident at night but did not do anything to help the motorcyclist. Police investigation revealed that some members of a family were passing by when 25-year-old Kamal fell into the pit. He informed this to the security guard present at the incident site. The guard had informed sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati around 12.30 am. According to the police, Rajesh came to the spot but did not investigate the pit.
Let us tell you that the Water Department had dug a pit near Andhra School on Professor Joginder Singh Marg near B3B Block of Janakpuri, Delhi. 25 year old Kamal had fallen into this pit along with his bike and died on the spot. There were no warning signs, reflectors, barricades or proper lighting arrangements at the site where the pit was dug and no security guards were deployed. A guard was at a distance from the pit. The pit was left open in the middle of a public road without any safety measures. When the police reached the spot, a man was found lying in a pit about 20 feet long, 13 feet wide and about 14 feet deep along with his motorcycle, who was identified as 25-year-old Kamal Rumi. This pit was dug in the middle of the road as part of road work. The injured person was pulled out of the pit with the help of the fire brigade and taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in a PCR vehicle. The doctor declared the young man dead in the hospital. Sub-collector Rajesh Prajapati has been arrested by the police in this case.
