Vaibhav Suryavanshi shatters records as India clinch sixth U19 World Cup title


India’s Under-19 cricket team has made history once again, securing a record-extending sixth World Cup title after a dominant 100-run victory over England in the final.


The star of the show was 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose breathtaking performance has taken the sporting world by storm.


Batting first at the Harare Sports Club, Suryavanshi delivered an innings for the ages, smashing 175 runs off just 80 balls. His explosive knock was fueled by 15 boundaries and 15 towering sixes, setting a new record for the highest individual score in a U19 World Cup final.


The young left-hander reached his century in just 55 deliveries, the second-fastest in the tournament’s history. Combined with a solid 53 from captain Ayush Mhatre, India posted a massive total of 411/9.

In response, England fought bravely with a century from Caleb Falconer, but they were eventually bundled out for 311. Suryavanshi, who was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, remained humble despite his historic feat.


Reflecting on the team’s journey and his own performance, the young hero said, “I trusted my skill set and believed I could perform under pressure in a big game.”


With this unbeaten campaign, India reinforces its as the global powerhouse of youth cricket, sparking nationwide celebrations as the “Class of 2026” returns home as national heroes.
