Kate, the Princess of Wales, has become one of those women everyone keeps an eye on style-wise — and not because she’s chasing every new trend that pops up. It’s actually the opposite. She knows what suits her and sticks to it. Clean lines, classic cuts, good-quality pieces she can wear again and again. In a world that’s obsessed with “new, new, new”, her outfit-repeating habit feels oddly refreshing. It’s stylish, sure, but it’s also practical and real.
Her latest public appearance was a perfect example of that easy, polished Kate vibe. She and Prince William were at Lambeth Palace in London to meet the Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally, and while the meeting itself was formal, Kate’s outfit felt quietly powerful rather than over-the-top. She wore a chocolate-brown midi dress by Edeline Lee from the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. The dress had structure, but it wasn’t stiff. It was elegant without looking like she was trying too hard.
What made the look feel very “her” was the tiny change she made to the original design. On the runway, the dress came with a white belt buckle. Kate switched it out for a brown one, keeping everything in the same colour family. It’s such a small detail, but that’s exactly her style - subtle tweaks that make the whole outfit feel more put-together and personal.
To deal with the chilly weather, she threw on a deep purple coat by Catherine Walker, a designer she’s worn many times over the years. The rich purple against the brown dress added just the right amount of contrast without stealing focus. Her jewellery was kept simple and classic, too - a Daniella Draper heart necklace and her go-to Cartier Trinity earrings.
Earlier this year, Kate shared that she is in remission from cancer, and seeing her step out looking calm, confident, and composed felt quietly meaningful. She finished the look with sheer tights and chocolate-brown Gianvito Rossi heels, keeping the whole palette soft and luxe from head to toe.
Eagle-eyed royal fans also spotted that her necklace seemed new, which has led to sweet speculation that it might be a birthday gift from Prince William. The piece she wore is said to retail from around $2,200 — pricey, yes, but still very much in line with the kind of jewellery she tends to favour: classic, personal, and wearable.
More than any single outfit, it’s Kate’s overall style that keeps people interested. She leans towards timeless shapes, neutral colours, and clothes that actually make sense for real life. Whether she’s in a high-street coat or a designer dress, her fashion never feels forced. It feels calm, confident, and grounded — and that’s exactly why her style still hits.
