
Rae Bareli, 8 February. A speeding car hit eight people, four of whom died, on the under-construction Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli district late on Sunday evening. Police gave this information.
Police said that this accident happened near Sultanpur Janauli village of Jagatpur police station area when the residents of Kodar village were returning from a community feast organized in Chuli village. These people were passing through the expressway when a speeding vehicle coming from behind hit them. After the accident, the driver left the car and fled from the spot and efforts are being made to arrest him.
According to the police, two women, Himanshi (23 years) and Shalini (22 years) died on the spot while the injured were taken to the district hospital, where Rashmi (14 years) and Asma (22 years) later died. Riya Patel (14 years), Priya Patel (12 years), Sadhna (9 years), Meena (22 years) and Reshma (14 years) were injured in the accident, who have been taken to the district hospital.
On getting information about the incident, District Magistrate Harshita Mathur and Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar reached the district hospital and gave instructions for better treatment of the injured. Superintendent of Police said, ‘This accident occurred due to a speeding car on the under-construction Ganga Expressway. Four people have died and four others have been injured. The vehicle has been seized and efforts are on to arrest the driver.
