New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, fog, and snowfall across different regions till February 10. Whereas, North India will witness a period of unsettled weather over the next few days.

Dense fog will cover several parts of the Northern Plains, and the IMD has issued an orange alert in Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog with low visibility is likely during morning and late night hours in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till February 10, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh will also witness similar conditions during morning hours.

The national capital wouldn’t face severe disruption, as no significant rainfall is forecast, and Monday morning will be chilly. However, fog with low visibility is likely to continue during morning hours over the next two days.

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to have a wet spell and snowfall from February 9 to 11. The thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with a speed of 30-40 kmph will likely dip the temperature, particularly on February 10.

The IMD has forecast a gradual rise in minimum temperature over northwest India by two degrees Celsius over the next two days. The temperature will hover around the mid-20s during the day, and the nights may remain chilly with cold waves.

Snowfall and rainfall across hill areas

With the temperature remaining in motion in North India, the hilly states – Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand- may witness fresh snowfall in the upper areas, accompanied by rain in the lower.

The IMD has cautioned that the mountainous terrain may see thunderstorms and gusty winds, which will disrupt the temperature. Tourists, commuters, and residents must remain alert in landslide-prone areas.
