If the amount is small then people ignore it, but when a large amount is lost by mistake then the problem increases. UPI transactions are not automatically reversed, but if the right steps are taken at the right time, there is a chance of getting the money back.

What to do first after a wrong transaction

You go to your UPI app, select that transaction and lodge a complaint through “Help” or “Report Issue” option. It is believed that a complaint made within the first three hours is most effective.

Ask for the receiver’s account to be frozen

If the person receiving the money refuses to return the amount, you can ask for his bank account to be temporarily frozen. When the account is frozen, it is not possible for that person to withdraw or transfer money.
