According to the case, the victim was lured with 30 to 40 percent profits on investment. Initially he found the offer doubtful, but constant contact and professional interaction convinced him.

How did the game of cheating begin?

In early November, the victim received a message in which information about an attractive investment scheme was given. After this he was added to a WhatsApp group, where many people were continuously sharing information about their alleged profits. This gave the impression that the scheme was completely legitimate.

After this, the fraudsters showed the entire investment system through a fake mobile app, in which increasing profits were visible. This app kept motivating the victim to invest money.

Starting with small amount, loss of crores

Initially only a few thousand rupees were asked to invest. The victim’s trust deepened after seeing the fake returns appearing on the app. After this he was repeatedly asked to deposit large amounts of money.

Gradually the entire retirement capital went into this fake investment. Overall, the victim suffered a loss of around Rs 1 crore 10 lakh.

How did the truth come out

When the swindlers started demanding more money, the victim became suspicious. For the first time he informed his family about this. The family immediately called it cyber fraud and advised them to lodge a complaint.

After this the victim contacted the cyber crime cell and registered a case. At present, the investigation of the case is going on and efforts are being made to trace the digital activities of the thugs.
