Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken command of the preparations to make the event of Mahakumbh-2027 in Uttarakhand grand and divine. While holding an important review meeting in the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Auditorium located at the Secretariat, he gave strict instructions to the officials that all the preparations and construction work to Kumbh should be completed by the month of October under any circumstances. The Chief Minister made it clear that delay in work or compromise on quality will not be tolerated.
During the meeting, CM Dhami warned the officials that no file to Kumbh should remain pending at the government level. “Accountability of the officials concerned will be fixed for keeping any work pending,” he said. The priority of the government is to organize a successful and memorable Kumbh, so that crores of devotees coming from India and abroad go back with a good experience.
The Chief Minister stressed on strengthening the infrastructure for the Kumbh Mela. He directed the Secretary of the Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure appointment of officers on technical posts for the Kumbh Mela within the next 24 hours. Apart from this, instructions were also given to conduct safety audit of all the bridges present in the Kumbh area.
Keeping the convenience of the devotees paramount, the CM said that Har Ki Paidi as well as all other ghats should be beautified and rebuilt as per the need. He also asked to ensure that there is proper arrangement for bathing at all the ghats so that the pressure of crowd does not fall at one place.
The Chief Minister also gave instructions to prepare a detailed action plan regarding security and cleanliness during the Kumbh Mela. He said that a comprehensive plan should be prepared for cleanliness in the fair area, which should include provision of toilets and drinking water at all major places.
Regarding security arrangements, CM Dhami asked to deploy adequate number of security forces and water police. He also stressed on using drones, CCTV and other modern technology for security. Apart from this, instructions were given to prepare separate detailed plans for law and order, parking and crowd management.
In the meeting, instructions were given to allot land to various Akharas on time and to monitor it by the fair officer himself. The Chief Minister said that constant communication should be maintained with all the Akharas, Mathas, Sant Samaj and local people and their suggestions should be included in the preparations. Besides, instructions were also given to run a large-scale removal of encroachment campaign in the Kumbh area for easy movement of devotees.
