Ronaldo vs Al Nassr: Self-imposed strike starts ‘untouchable’ status debate

Cristiano Ronaldo’s role at Al-Nassr has faced intense scrutiny following a ‘self-imposed strike’ during which he missed two important matches against Al-Ittihad and Al-Riyadh. The 41-year-old sparked outrage, leading many to question his “untouchable” status at the club.

Ronaldo’s frustration stems from a lack of investment in the squad. Tensions reached their height after Karim Benzema’s transfer to Al-Hilal, a move Ronaldo was reportedly opposed to.

Amid the chaos, the Saudi Pro League released a direct statement saying: “No individual, regardless of status, can influence decisions beyond their own club.” They also made it clear that “the league is built on a simple idea: every club works independently but follows the same rules.”

Despite the controversy, Ronaldo posted training photos featuring emojis in Al-Nassr’s colours to quell the rumours.

However, fans remain divided, while some displayed banners at the Al-Ittihad match to support the star athlete, others mocked the legend with “missing person” posters.

Reports suggest that Ronaldo is “unhappy with the club’s lack of new signings,” but a potential move for Bruno Fernandes might convince the “GOAT” to stay.
