Ottawa/Tumbler Ridge, February 11. A very painful news has come out from the British Columbia province of Canada. The shooting in the small town of Tumbler Ridge shook the entire area. 10 people, including the suspected attacker, lost their lives and 25 were injured in gunfire that hit a high school and a nearby house.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said Tuesday that shots were fired at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School at about 1:20 p.m. local time. When police reached the spot, six people were found dead inside the school. One injured person died on the way to hospital. Two more victims were found at a house believed to be linked to the incident. The suspected shooter was also found dead and it is suspected that he shot himself, police said.
British Columbia Premier David AB has expressed deep sorrow over this incident. He wrote on social media platform He assured that the government will provide all possible assistance to the community in the coming days.
About 25 people have been injured in this attack. The condition of two of them is said to be critical and they were airlifted to the hospital. The remaining injured are being treated in local hospitals. Police have confirmed that there are no other suspects at large and all students and staff at the school were evacuated safely.
