Mohan government again raised huge loan, opposition attacked

Bhopal. Before the budget session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Mohan government has raised a new loan of Rs 5 thousand crore from the market. This loan is the second major loan taken in the last one week; Earlier on February 4, the government had taken a loan of Rs 5300 crore. Opposition parties have made serious allegations against the state government regarding this increasing debt. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath targeted the Mohan government on social media platform X and said that BJP is drowning the state in the burden of debt.

Kamalnath’s serious allegation

Kamal Nath tweeted that according to the recent report of the Reserve Bank of India, the total debt of Madhya Pradesh has exceeded Rs 5 lakh crore, which is 5% of the total debt of the country. He also said that in 2007 the debt of Madhya Pradesh was Rs 52,000 crore, which has now increased almost ten times to cross Rs 5 lakh crore.

matter of concern for the opposition

Accusing the BJP government of corruption and wasteful expenditure, Kamal Nath said that the public is becoming senseless, while the disorganization of the government treasury shows that instead of fulfilling basic needs, money is being spent on corruption. He also said that the state government should seriously consider its economic situation.

Umang Singhar also raised questions

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar also drew attention to this serious issue and said that it is worrying for the state government to take a loan of Rs 5,000 crore for the second time in a week, just before the budget session. He said that in this financial year so far Rs 67,300 crore has been borrowed and loans have been taken 36 times, which raises serious questions on the financial condition of the state.

Consideration of RBI report

Recently released RBI report has highlighted the economic condition of Madhya Pradesh, in which it has been told that about 5% of the total debt of the country is on Madhya Pradesh alone. This worrying situation demands clarity from the government as to what is the concrete financial roadmap for this huge borrowing. In the upcoming budget session, detailed answers will be sought from the government on increasing debt, interest burden and transparency of financial management. Madhya Pradesh needs a strong and visionary economic policy, not mountains of debt.
