In a shocking and tragic incident, a 33-year-old tech professional in Bengaluru's Vigyan Nagar has been arrested for stabbing his own parents to death at their posh villa in East Bengaluru on February 11, 2026.

The deceased have been identified as retired Indian Navy Captain Naveen Chandra Bhat (60) and his wife Dr Shyamala Bhat (55), who was a dentist. The couple lived in their villa in Adarsh ​​Vista Apartments under the jurisdiction of HAL police station.

Police have identified the accused as their 33-year-old son Rohan Chandra Bhat, who recently returned from the US after working as a tech professional. According to initial reports, the incident took place on Wednesday morning after a heated domestic argument, allegedly due to personal and money-related tensions. This also included issues related to funding for his startup.

Neighbors said that at around 7:30 in the morning, sounds of loud argument and commotion were coming from the villa and when they went inside, they found the couple seriously injured. Both the victims were immediately taken to Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road, where doctors declared them dead despite medical efforts.

The police registered a case of murder on the complaint of a neighbor, Dr. Madhavi Nair, and took Rohan into custody. Investigators are probing the real motive behind the attack, with initial inquiries pointing to long-running family disputes.

The couple's daughter, who lives in the US, has been informed about the tragic incident and is expected to reach Bengaluru soon. The bodies have been sent to the Boring Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival.

The brutal incident has shocked the residents of this normally peaceful area and sparked discussion among young professionals on issues like family pressure, mental health and conflict resolution.
