Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra, a global icon known for her fearlessness and determination, recently reflected on her decision to move countries and restart her career in her 30s. Despite being an established actress in Bollywood, Chopra decided to pack her bags and move to Los Angeles for a fresh start at the age of 30.

In an interview with Variety, Priyanka stated that it was a terrifying decision. In the initial years, she did not achieve the success she was hoping for. With no roadmaps, Priyanka tread the water ahead of her carefully. At first, she ventured into the music industry, where she signed with Desi Hits in partnership with Interscope Records. She patiently waited for years until she grew to the artist she is today– known across the world for her talent, beauty and eloquence.

“To restart your career in your 30s is terrifying. I was secure. I was doing well financially. I was established. And I chose to blow it up. It took many years to be sitting where I am right now, a lot of pavement-pounding. I am in a position now where I get to pick the things that I want to make,” said the actress. She added, “I understand the privilege of that very much, and I take it very seriously. Discipline was a really big part of our growing up. Your word is your bond. If you say something, you have to stand for it.”

Priyanka wasn’t ready to limit herself to one industry. She dreamt of working with artists across the globe. Her desire to transcend borders became a reality with her success in the TV series Quantico. The three-season show brought in more projects, including the Oscar-nominated film The White Tiger.

The actress will soon be seen in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi.
