City-based entrepreneur and brand builder Saran Vel Jayaraman , who is all set to take up film production, reflects on his journey and speaks about his business milestones, ethical growth, supporting his daughter Naksha Saran’s journey in cinema and more.
Tracing his entrepreneurial beginnings, he says, “I started at a very young age with software training and travelled across India, setting up offices from New Delhi to Kerala. Even today, before launching any business, I personally visit the location to analyse the city, the people, the resources and the competitors.”
In the cosmetic field for over two decades, he notes, “When we began hair transplantation in 2004, people wondered who would opt for it. Today, more than 60–70% of surgeries happening in India are cosmetic procedures, and we are the number one and the largest chain in India, with 150 clinics across the country.”
He adds, “Our new venture coming up in Turkey will be one of the biggest clinics in that country, and I will be the first person from India to start a cosmetic clinic there.”
On the sector’s future, he says, “The cosmetic business is going to be a big boom in India and create a revolution. Apart from clinics, we focus on doctor training, product manufacturing and complete surgical services.”
He also confirms his entry into cinema. “Soon, I will launch a film production company focusing mainly on young directors, actors and people with real talent. The aim is to encourage strong storytelling, support new filmmakers and create structured opportunities for emerging artistes.”
Calling his family “the biggest support”, Saran Vel says, “Without my wife, I would not be who I am today.” He adds, “Love has become commercial today, and technology plays a major role in connecting and disconnecting people. So, for me, celebrating Valentine’s Day with the same person for 30 years is meaningful. We give each other the freedom to pursue our goals, while respecting one another.”
Speaking about their daughter Naksha Saran, who starred in Margazhi Thingal (2023) and Saamaniyan (2024), he says, “After completing her opera singing course at AR Rahman’s music academy, Naksha chose to pursue acting, and we supported her decision. Both her Tamil films were scored by Ilaiyaraaja sir. She has now finished her third film, a Tamil–Malayalam bilingual, and is currently working on her fourth project, Hailesso , a Telugu film by a prominent banner.”
