On Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur announced the appointment of Igor Tudor as their new head coach. This decision follows the dismissal of Thomas Frank, with the team currently positioned just five points above the relegation zone in the English Premier League (EPL) season.
So far, Spurs have managed to secure only two victories out of 17 matches in the ongoing Premier League campaign.
According to Tottenham's official website, Tudor's primary goal is clear: to instill organization, intensity, and a competitive spirit within the squad during this critical phase of the season.
"Joining this club at such a pivotal time is a privilege. I recognize the weight of the responsibility I carry, and my aim is to enhance our performance consistency and compete fiercely in every match," Tudor stated, as reported by ESPN.
"The squad possesses significant talent, and my role is to organize, energize, and swiftly improve our results," he further emphasized.
Johan Lange, Tottenham's sporting director, remarked, "Igor brings clarity, intensity, and the experience necessary to navigate challenging situations effectively. Our goal is simple: to stabilize our performances, maximize the squad's quality, and compete robustly in both the Premier League and Champions League."
At 47 years old, Tudor has previously managed clubs like Lazio, Marseille, and Galatasaray, though he has never remained at one club for more than two years.
His immediate focus will be on steering Spurs away from the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Tudor's inaugural match as head coach will be the highly anticipated north London derby against league leaders Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on February 22.
