Renowned astrologer Sumit Bajaj has made a bold prediction about Team India star Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2027 World Cup. The explosive opener will not participate in the 50-over tournament according to Bajaj who predicts that his retirement will start after August 2026.
Rohit who now plays only ODIs after stepping away from Tests and T20Is shared his ambition to win the 2027 World Cup for India. The 38-year-old led the Asian side in the 2023 World Cup but fell short of the trophy after losing to Australia in the final.
The Nagpur-born batter impressed with the bat in the 2023 World Cup, scoring 597 runs in 11 innings at an average of 54.27 and a strike rate of 125.24. His tally included three fifties and one century. The Men in Blue achieved back-to-back ICC titles under Rohit who led the team during the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy despite India losing the 50-over championship.
Rohit responded strongly after the selectors replaced him as ODI captain before the Australia tour last October and he won the Player of the Series award. The star batter scored 202 runs across three innings which included a century in the third ODI in Sydney.
The veteran has hit two half-centuries during his last six ODI matches against South Africa and New Zealand. He achieved scores of 26 24 and 11 during the ODI series against the Kiwis who achieved their first-ever series victory in January.
Rohit will next appear in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians before returning to national duty in June 2026 when England host India for three ODIs. His form will remain under close watch as the Men in Blue prepare for the 2027 World Cup.
