India's rank in Henley Passport Index 2026 has improved to 75. Despite this, the number of visa-free countries has dropped from 57 to 56. Singapore tops the list of 192 countries with visa-free travel.

New Delhi: The Henley Passport Index of 2026, which shows the strength of passports of the countries of the world, has been released. The strength of India's passport has improved significantly internationally. India, which was ranked 85th in 2025, has climbed 10 places to 75th. But, despite the big jump in the ranking from last year, the number of countries one can visit without a visa has declined.

India, which was ranked 80th in January this year, has improved its position by reaching 75th position by February. At the same time, in 2025, Indian passport holders could visit 57 countries without a visa. But now this number has reduced to 56. Despite this, India moved up in the rankings. India's rank improved based on the performance of other countries. Two countries refused to give 'free entry' to Indian travelers. Iran and Bolivia canceled free visa facility for Indians.

Iran had suspended the free visa facility for Indians in November 2025 due to fraud and security concerns related to fake work visas. Bolivia, which earlier offered 'Visa on Arrival', has now made 'e-Visa' mandatory, taking it out of the free visa list. At the same time, in January 2026, this list was reduced to 55 countries, but with the addition of Gambia in February, the number of visa-free countries for Indians increased to 56.
