Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh has registered significant progress in the field of health, nutrition and safety of women and children under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0 scheme. More than 98.42% children in the state have been mapped for nutrition services, while 99.97% deliveries have been registered institutionally. This reflects better access to health services.
According to the report of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, a total of 1,89,736 Anganwadi centers are operating in Uttar Pradesh. Under the Poshan Abhiyaan, successful mapping of 1,43,31,611 children out of the target 1,45,62,081 children up to six years of age has been done. This has helped in providing nutrition services to children. Along with this, 99.97% pregnant women in the state are opting for institutional delivery, which is a sign of positive change in maternal health.
Care services are being provided to 93,65,940 pregnant women through 40,580 health workers in the state. This has increased access to maternal and child health services and promoted safe delivery.
All 22,290 mini Anganwadi centers have been converted into regular centers under the Annual Program Implementation Plan 2022-23. Apart from this, approval has been given to upgrade 23,697 Anganwadi centers to capable Anganwadi centres. This has led to improvements in early childhood care and education facilities.
Under Mission Shakti, 2,96,173 women have been provided assistance through One Stop Center till 31 October 2025. Out of 124 approved centers in the state, 96 centers are currently operational. Of these, 64 are running in their own buildings and 26 are running in government premises. Women Helpline has also become an important support, which has helped 9,18,860 women till 31 December 2025. It has been linked to the common helpline number and emergency response support system.
Under Mission Vatsalya, 191 child care institutions are operating in all 75 districts of the state, where 5,125 children are being provided institutional care. Apart from this, non-institutional care services are also being provided to vulnerable children and families.
This scheme is applicable in all 75 districts of the state. Due to better coordination with the Health and Family Welfare Department, the impact of the scheme is visible at the ground level.
With a view to enhance basic facilities for women, the state has received approval for eight working women hostels with 4,000 beds each under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme. The Central Government has sanctioned ₹381.56 crore for this project, of which ₹251.83 crore has already been released.
10 new Shakti Sadans are being built under the strength component. Of these, four have been approved for 2025-26. Apart from this, eight Sakhi Niwas are already operational, out of which three new Niwas have been approved for this financial year.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is applicable in the entire state. Data compilation of beneficiaries till 2 February 2026 is ongoing. Women and Child Development Department offices are fully functional in all 75 districts.
According to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, Uttar Pradesh has paid special attention to infrastructural improvements and expansion of services. With this, access to health, nutrition and women-child welfare services is reaching the weaker sections of the society in a better way.
