Saket was last seen on February 9, about 1 kilometer away from the campus of the University of California, Berkeley. After this no trace of him was found. A large-scale search operation was carried out in which the police, local community and the Indian community participated.

Saket’s body was recovered near Lake Anza on 4 February. However, it was formally identified and confirmed by the Indian Consulate today on 15 February. Earlier, Saket’s bag was found in a house near a park, which contained his passport, laptop and other important items.

Saket was originally from Karnataka and at the age of just 22, he dreamed of pursuing higher education in America. He was pursuing a master’s degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
