PAN card in India is an important document for financial transactions and availing government benefits. If the name on your PAN card is wrong, it can create problems at many places. PAN card with correct name is not only necessary to get a job but is also mandatory in banking and tax processes. If you need to make a change or correction in the name on your PAN card, the process has now become very simple online.

• First of all go to UTIITSL portal.


• Select PAN Card Correction/Update option on the homepage.


• Fill your PAN number and information.


• Select ‘Name Change’ option and enter the new name.


• Upload the required documents and pay the fee.


• After submitting the application, you will get an Acknowledgment Number, which you can use to track the status.

What documents will be required

Certain identification and certificates are required for name change or correction. These include:

• Aadhar card


• Passport


• Marriage Certificate (for change of name after marriage)


• Gazette Notification (for legal name change)


• Voter ID, Driving License, Ration Card


• Application fee can be paid through net banking, credit/debit card or UPI.

Once the application is accepted, the new PAN card will reach your address in about 45 days.

Application Tracking Information

Once you have submitted the application, you can check the status of your application by visiting the UTIITSL portal using the Acknowledgment Number received. This information will help you to know when your new PAN card will be issued.
