Thanks to the brilliant performance of Azmatullah Omarzai (four wickets/40 not out), Ibrahim Zadran (53) and Darwish Rasooli (33), Afghanistan registered its first win in the tournament by defeating United Arab Emirates by five wickets with four balls to spare in the 28th match of the T-20 World Cup on Monday. Chasing the target of 161 runs, Afghanistan did not get off to a good start and lost the wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0) in the very first over.
After this, the pair of Ibrahim Zadran and Gulbadin Naib added 40 runs for the first wicket. In the sixth over, Muhammad Irfan ended this partnership by dismissing Gulbadin Naib (13). Sediqullah Atal (16) was out as the third wicket after scoring 16 runs. During this, Ibrahim Zardan kept scoring runs at one end and also completed his half-century.
In the 14th over, Irfan gave a big blow to Afghanistan by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran. Ibrahim Zardan played an innings of 53 runs in 41 balls, hitting six fours and a six. Earlier today, on the basis of excellent batting by Sohaib Khan (68) and Aalishaan Sharafu (40), United Arab Emirates (UAE) scored 160 runs for nine wickets against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. UAE, who came to bat, did not have a good start and lost two wickets at the score of 13. Aryansh Sharma (0), captain Muhammad Wasim (10) were out after scoring runs. The pair of Sohaib Khan and Aalishaan Sharafu handled the innings and added 84 runs for the third wicket. In the 12th over, Mujeeb Ur Rehman broke this partnership by dismissing Aalishaan Sharafu.

Sohaib Khan played an innings of 68 runs in 48 balls hitting six fours and four sixes. Haider Ali was run out after scoring 13 runs. UAE scored a challenging score of 160 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai took four wickets for Afghanistan. Mujeeb ur Rahman got two wickets. Rashid Khan dismissed one batsman.
