Bengaluru: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa marked his 48th birthday while serving his sentence in a murder case. The actor is currently in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

Despite his absence, Darshan’s family and fans celebrated his birthday and paid tribute to him over social media. His wife Vijayalakshmi took to social media to wish the star on his birthday. She posted a throwback picture with Darshan and their son Vineesh. The image showed three cakes placed in front of the actor. The image was shared with the caption, “To the man who is celebrated every day, happiest birthday.” Unlike previous years, the star cannot celebrate the special day with his dear ones.

Meanwhile, fans of the actor flooded Vijayalakshmi’s post with wishes and prayers. While many stated that they miss the actor, others wished him well and hoped to see him out of jail.

One wrote, “Happy birthday, D Boss. May all your troubles go away and good days come. Forever with you Boss (sic).” Another individual commented, “We are waiting for you like waiting for Sabari Ram. That one smile of yours is a comfort to many suffering lives. Missing So Much BOSSuuu.” A third person commented, “The best actor,the best father, the best husband, happy birthday dboss, we miss you bega banni.”

Darshan was taken into custody in 2024 in the murder of Renukaswamy, a medical shop employee from Chitradurga. As per the case, the man was beaten up in a shed in Pattanagere, and he later succumbed to his injuries. His body was found just a day after. The actor, along with several others were accused in the case.

The actor was last seen in the 2025 movie The Devil.
