Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has deactivated about 2.5 crore Aadhaar cards. Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Jatin gave this information. This step has been taken to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Aadhaar database. Under this nationwide cleanliness drive, it is necessary to deactivate the Aadhaar numbers of persons who have passed away. This process will not only reduce fraud but will also prevent misuse of government welfare schemes. UIDAI has launched new services in this context.
UIDAI has launched a new service called “Reporting Death of a Family Member”. This service is for cases when a family member passes away. Its objective is to simplify the process of reporting the death of a family member to the concerned authorities.
This service will be available on MyAadhaar portal. Families in which a member has died can get their Aadhaar card deactivated by visiting this portal and clicking on “Reporting Death of a Family Member”.
– First of all, open the MyAadhaar portal on your phone or laptop.
– Then, scroll down and click on “Check Aadhaar Validity”.
– Fill Aadhaar number and captcha code and click on “Proceed”.
– After this, a new page will open where you will see the status of Aadhaar card.
– If your Aadhaar status is Activated, it means that your Aadhaar card has not been deactivated. But if it is deactivated, you can contact the customer care of Aadhar Card.
– Note that sometimes Aadhaar can become inactive due to wrong information about age, name, gender, state, mobile number etc.
