Team USA figure skating sensation Isabeau Levito has declared she's in no hurry to leave the Olympic Village as she relishes her experience. The Winter Olympics have delivered no shortage of dramatic moments throughout the opening fortnight.

On the ice, American sensation Ilia Malinin suffered a disappointing collapse to miss out on a medal in figure skating, and his compatriot - Levito - is determined to fare better as she makes her Games bow. Team USA holds significant expectations for the figure skating competition, in both the women's free skate and short programme.

Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Levito are all competing in these disciplines, with each one carrying medal aspirations to end a two-decade drought. Not a single Team USA woman has claimed an individual figure skating medal at the Winter Olympics since Sasha Cohen secured silver in 2006.

Levito is eager to make her mark, even though Japan's Kaori Sakamoto is the overwhelming favourite to claim gold in the women's free skate finals. Yet, regardless of her competitive results, Levito is thoroughly enjoying her time in Milan.

She told NBC: "I've spent every night in the [Olympic] Village. It's been everything and more. And you can't evict me." Levito added: "I don't think there's anything not to enjoy [about the Olympic Village].

"I haven't even gotten to compete yet, and I feel like my experience is already complete. Not complete, but I'm having a blast. The best time."

Ultimately, Levito's Olympic journey will only be enhanced if she performs well and secures a medal in the coming days. It would be quite the accomplishment, particularly as it could occur on familiar ground for the young athlete.

In 2022, at just 14 years old, Levito was too young to qualify for the Beijing Winter Olympics. The Milan-Cortina Games are her first age-eligible event; interestingly, her mother hails from Milan and her family still resides there.

"Insane how, yes, I have family from Italy, but Milan specifically is where my family is from," said Levito. "I think it's cool to be going to the Olympics in a place where I don't feel like much of a foreigner."

She also expressed her excitement about representing her country on the global stage, adding: "It is insane to have the opportunity to represent the country like that and to be one of the top three skaters to be sent is crazy."

Levito's short programme is set to a medley of Sophia Loren songs, which could be an ideal choice given the Olympic Games are taking place in Italy.

She made her international debut in the 2021-2022 season as the U.S. national junior champion, then competed at her first U.S. nationals as a senior, where she secured bronze. Levito claimed the title in her first appearance at the World Junior Championships in 2022 and later won world silver in 2024.
