Team USA figure skating star Isabeau Levito has insisted she's in no rush to depart theOlympic Village as she savours her experience. The Winter Olympics have provided a plethora of dramatic moments throughout the opening two weeks.

On the ice, American prodigy Ilia Malinin experienced a disappointing downfall, missing out on a medal in figure skating, and his fellow countrywoman - Levito - is resolved to perform better as she makes her Games debut. Team USA holds high hopes for the figure skating competition, in both the women's free skate and short programme.

Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Levito are all competing in these disciplines, each carrying medal hopes to end a twenty-year dry spell. Not a single Team USA woman has won an individual figure skating medal at the Winter Olympics since Sasha Cohen bagged silver in 2006.

Levito is keen to leave her mark, even though Japan's Kaori Sakamoto is the clear favourite to win gold in the women's free skate finals. However, regardless of her competitive results, Levito is thoroughly relishing her time in Milan.

She told NBC: "I've spent every night in the [Olympic] Village. It's been everything and more. And you can't evict me." Levito further added: "I don't think there's anything not to enjoy [about the Olympic Village].

"I haven't even gotten to compete yet, and I feel like my experience is already complete. Not complete, but I'm having a blast. The best time."

Ultimately, Levito's Olympic journey will only be enhanced if she performs well and secures a medal in the coming days. It would be quite the accomplishment, particularly as it could occur on familiar ground for the young athlete.

In 2022, at just 14 years old, Levito was too young to qualify for the Beijing Winter Olympics. The Milan-Cortina Games are her first age-eligible event; interestingly, her mother hails from Milan and her family still resides there.

"Insane how, yes, I have family from Italy, but Milan specifically is where my family is from," said Levito. "I think it's cool to be going to the Olympics in a place where I don't feel like much of a foreigner."

She also expressed her excitement about representing her country on the global stage, adding: "It is insane to have the opportunity to represent the country like that and to be one of the top three skaters to be sent is crazy."

Levito's short programme is choreographed to a medley of Sophia Loren songs, a fitting choice considering the Olympic Games are being held in Italy. She made her international debut in the 2021-2022 season as the U.S. national junior champion, before competing at her first U.S. nationals as a senior, where she bagged a bronze medal.

Levito clinched the title in her maiden appearance at the World Junior Championships in 2022 and subsequently won world silver in 2024.
