Five days after its theatrical release, O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, is struggling to gain strong momentum at the box office despite positive word-of-mouth for its performances, music, and direction.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film reminded audiences of intense romantic dramas like Laila Majnu. The reunion of Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwary grabbed attention, although this time the two were seen pitted against each other rather than paired romantically.

The film opened with ₹8.5 crore on Day 1, followed by a strong jump to ₹12.65 crore on Day 2. Collections dipped slightly on Day 3 to ₹9 crore, while Day 5 brought in around ₹5 crore. As of now, O Romeo has earned approximately ₹34.9 crore net in India, with gross domestic collections touching about ₹46.75 crore. Worldwide, the film has crossed the ₹60 crore mark.

While audiences have praised Shahid Kapoor’s intense action sequences and Tripti Dimri’s performance, the box office figures remain underwhelming when compared to the film’s reported budget of nearly ₹150 crore. For the film to be considered a hit, it will need a significant turnaround in the coming days.

Veteran actor Nana Patekar also won appreciation for his role as a witty yet impactful police officer, adding depth and humor to the narrative. Special appearances by Tamannaah Bhatia and Vikrant Massey further strengthened the supporting cast.

To become the biggest film of Shahid Kapoor’s career, O Romeo would need to surpass the lifetime box office record of Padmaavat, a milestone that currently looks challenging. Despite the slow earnings, the film continues to receive appreciation for its storytelling, music, and performances, keeping hopes alive for a gradual recovery in the days ahead.
