Abhiraj Minawala, the director of "Mardaani 3," shared his experiences regarding the film and hinted at the potential for a fourth installment in the series. In a recent interview, he expressed that the team is eager to further explore the character of Shivani Shivaji Roy. However, he noted that the development of a fourth film will only proceed when a compelling story is crafted.
On the Possibility of Mardaani 4
Minawala stated, "I believe 'Mardaani 4' should definitely happen. We should continue making more films. The success of 'Mardaani' and 'Mardaani 2' inspired us to create 'Mardaani 3.' However, considering that 'Mardaani 2' was released in 2019 and the third part is only coming out in 2026, it's crucial that we have the right script and story before moving forward with 'Mardaani 4.'"
Abhiraj Minawala's Journey with Yash Raj Films
In 'Mardaani 3,' Rani Mukerji reprises her role as the courageous cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, who this time is on a mission to uncover the truth behind missing children and the criminal organization responsible. The previous films tackled serious issues like human trafficking and a dangerous serial killer, while the third installment addresses another significant social concern. Produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), Minawala reflected on his long-standing relationship with the studio, which began when he worked as an assistant director.
Connection to Mardaani 3's Script
Minawala shared, "My journey with YRF started with 'Rocket Singh.' I spent years as an assistant director, moving from one project to another, contributing to action sequences and engaging in creative discussions. During this time, Aditya Chopra encouraged me to read the script for 'Mardaani 3.' I was immediately drawn to it and felt a deep connection, not just as a director but also as a father, which made me determined to bring it to life."
