Ahmedabad : Thanks to the excellent performance of Shivam Dubey (66 runs/two wickets) and Varun Chakraborty (three wickets), India defeated Netherlands by 17 runs in the 36th match of the T-20 World Cup on Wednesday. This is India’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament. Shivam Dubey received the ‘Player of the Match’ award. India will play its first match in Super-8 against South Africa on 22 February on this ground.

Chasing the target of 194 runs, the pair of Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd added 35 runs for the first wicket for Netherlands. In the sixth over, Varun Chakraborty broke this partnership by dismissing Max O’Dowd for 20 runs in 18 balls. Hardik Pandya gave India its second success by dismissing Michael Levitt (24) in the eighth over.

In the 13th over, Varun Chakraborty dismissed Colin Ackerman (23) and Aryan Dutt (0) in 15 balls and sent them to the pavilion. In the next over, Shivam Dubey gave the fifth blow to Netherlands by dismissing Bas De Lead (33) in 23 balls. Captain Scott Edwards (15) was bowled by Bumrah. Shivam Dubey took his second wicket by dismissing Jack Lion (26) in 16 balls on the fourth ball of the 20th over. The Netherlands team could score only 176 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 17 runs. Nova Kross remained unbeaten after scoring 26 runs in 12 balls.

In reply to 194 runs, Netherlands had a good start. He got the first blow in the sixth over when Max was out on the score of 35. After this, he got the second blow on the score of 51 when Michael Levitt was out. A good partnership flourished between Bas de Leede and Colin. But then the Indian bowlers tightened their grip. Netherlands team could score only 176 runs. The most successful bowler from India was Varun Chakraborty who took 3 wickets for 14 runs in 3 overs. Whereas, Shivam Dubey got 2 wickets and Bumrah got one wicket.
