Meghan Markle has shared a new message with her followers on the same day that her husband Prince Harry's uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested. The former Prince Andrew was taken into custody by police who arrived at his Sandringham home at around 8am today - the morning of his 66th birthday.

King Charles led the Royal response with a statement backing the police action and saying he had "the deepest concern" for allegations of misconduct in public office being levelled against his younger brother, saying: "Let me state clearly: the law must take its course." However, 44-year-old Meghan opted to stay out of the drama completely.

Instead, she highlighted some of the products available in her As Ever range, writing in an email: "When the temperature drops, we start by striking a match. A steady flame on the table. Soft light in the corners of the room. The familiar comfort of a scent that instantly changes the mood."

As Ever is the name of Meghan's product range inspired by, as the company says, "her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining and hostessing with ease". It says: "As ever is more than a brand - it's a love language."

The Duchess went on: “From there, everything else follows — a hot mug in both hands, citrus on the cutting board, something gently simmering on the stove. Small rituals, made warmer by candlelight.”

Neither Harry nor Meghan - who are based in Montecito, California - have commented on events back in Britain. In fact, aside from Charles' statement there has been much business as usual taking place among the royals.

Charles arrived at his appointment to help launch the start of London Fashion Week, where he was seen with a very shocked-looking Stella McCartney - while his sister Anne, 75, paid a visit to a prison in Leeds.

Thames Valley Police today confirmed that a man in his sixties from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and is in police custody. Officers are said to be carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk. At the time of writing, Andrew has not been released.

The arrest of the former Prince Andrew comes as the National Crime Agency revealed that it is supporting multiple UK police forces investigating information in the Epstein files. The NCA said it is supporting police to “enable a full and independent assessment of the information released”.
