Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has changed the stoppage list of Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22227/22228), Northeast India’s first semi-high-speed train. A new stop has been added at **Gosaigaon Hat** station. This change will come into effect from February 20, 2026 and will increase the total stops to seven. This will improve connectivity for travelers in lower Assam, especially daily commuters and local traders.
Launched in May 2023, this train covers the distance of approximately 407–409 km in 5 hours 30 minutes, making it the fastest option on this route. It operates six days a week (except Tuesday). The new stop at Gosaigaon Haat (often listed as Gosaigaon or GOGH) meets a long-standing demand and was approved as an experiment. The earlier approval for such stops is till 2025, but this Vande Bharat service will be implemented with the update of February 20, 2026.
**Updated Stoppages** (Guwahati to NJP and vice versa):
– Kamakhya
– Rangia
– New Bongaigaon
– Kokrajhar
– Gosaigaon Haat (New)
– New Alipurduar
– New Cooch Behar
**Timing** (No change due to addition):
– **22228** (Guwahati to NJP): Departs Guwahati at 16:30 hrs, reaches NJP at 22:00 hrs.
– **22227** (NJP to Guwahati): Departs NJP at 06:10 hrs, reaches Guwahati at 11:40 hrs.
The train uses eight-coach “mini” Vande Bharat rakes: seven AC chair car coaches with modular seating for comfort, and one executive AC chair car with 180-degree swivel seats and extra legroom. The service has significantly boosted regional tourism, providing quick access to places like Maa Kamakhya Temple, Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park, while also supporting economic activity in Assam and North Bengal.
