As well as this, an unexpected vegetable earned the title of "healthiest vegetable on Earth", after research revealed its highly rich nutrient content. Drawing upon the Centre for Disease Control's approach, which assesses foods based on their vitamin and mineral content, it looks like eating a varied diet could hold the answer.

Beating other nutrient-rich vegetables such as spinach, chard, and beetroot greens that earned scores in the 80s, watercress came out as the best leafy green with a flawless rating of 100.


Jennifer Di Noia, an associate professor of sociology at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, said: "Higher-ranking foods provide more nutrients per calories."



Meanwhile, for those keen to expand their wholesome snacking selection, the title of "world's healthiest snack" was awarded to honey, which also boasts impressive health benefits. It's a powerful superfood that deserves a place in your everyday diet.
