The world's biggest passenger airplane can carry a whopping 850 passengers, with tourists able to jump onboard from London. Measuring 73 meters long, 24 meters high and with a wingspan of almost 80m, Airbus' stunning A380-800 is a sight to behold at airports around the world.

The Airbus is usually equipped with four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines and features 11 fuel tanks fitted in its wings. The extensive tank system stores over 250 metric tons of fuel, with a maximum capacity of almost 320,000 litres. This allows the plane to fly for around 8,000 nautical miles or around 17 hours of direct flight time.

Inside, the Airbus is a novelty and the only full-length double-decker aircraft in the skies. The two passenger decks of the A380 are the same size as three tennis courts, with the volume of the three decks enough to carry 35 million ping-pong balls.

However, despite its size, the plane has an all-economy layout, allowing room for a whopping 850 passengers to ride onboard. Airbus claims the A380-800 is the "quietest cabin in the sky" and will help to maximise passenger comfort.

The company says this is achieved by installing a wider cabin, wider seats, higher standing height and more personal space. Those who wish to experience the A380-800 for themselves can jump on the plane from right here in the UK.

British Airways uses the plane for its services to several high-profile destinations including Washington, Los Angeles and Johannesburg. Meanwhile, Emirates also runs the Airbus for its routes between Heathrow and Dubai.

Airbus has sold its plane to some of the world's biggest airlines, including Japan's Nippon Airways, Qantas, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines. Interiors can vary between brands who like to put their one spin on the models to fit their customers' tastes.

Emirates has gone for an ultra luxurious look, touching up the A380's interior to feature a range of impressive features, including an elegant woodgrain finish.

They have also opted to make use of the space to install dedicated Premium Economy, First Class and Business Class seating options. Travellers paying the top prices can enjoy access to a luxury sunbed lounge and even a First Class Shower Spa.
