A dietitian is urging people who suffer with bloating to do one thing after they have a meal or snack.
There are a number of reasons people can feel bloated, with the common reason for it being gas trapped in your gut from food or drinks people have eaten that day.
Bloating can also be caused by problems with digestion such as constipation, a food intolerance, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
People also tend to bloat during their period, it typically happens in the days leading up to a period and for the first few days of the cycle.
Bloating can be really uncomfortable, and people are urged to see their doctor if they feel very bloated, if it happens regularly or doesn't go away at all as it could be a sign or something more serious.
Olivia Molyneux, a gastro dietitian based in London, has shared what she tells her patients to try if they find themselves getting bloated after a meal.
She shared a video on her TikTok account, @olivia_the_dietitian, to encourage people to take just five minutes of of their day to help with bloating.
She said: "Try this for just five minutes after eating to help your post-meal bloating from a registered gut health dietitian.
"Try taking a light walk or gentle activity for about 5 minutes after eating. This simple hack helps aid digestion and reduce a build up of gas.
"Let me know if you've ever tried this."
One person commented under the video: "Yes a little walk after eating has helped my IBS MASSIVELY! we need to help stimulate our bodies the same way babies do."
Symptoms of bloating include your tummy feeling full or bigger than usual, you have tummy pain or discomfort, your tummy is rumbling or making noises or you're farting more than usual.
People can reduce bloating by not drink lots of fizzy drinks, alcohol or caffeine in coffee and tea and staying away from foods that are known to cause gas, like cabbage, beans or lentils.
People should go to an urgent doctor appointment if they have bloating along with any of the following symptoms, constipation, stomach ache, a high temperature, swelling or a lump or a burning feeling in your chest.
People should head straight to A&E if they have bloating along with a severe pain that came on suddenly, severe difficulty breathing or if they're vomiting blood.
