South superstar Mahesh Babu will be seen playing the role of Lord Rama in director SS Rajamouli's upcoming mega-film "Varanasi." Rajamouli himself revealed this during the film's title launch and interview, but Mahesh Babu's look poster wasn't released at the time. Now, it seems the fans' wait is over.

A poster for the film has been put up on the digital billboards of Mythri Cinemas in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and is rapidly going viral on social media. In this poster, Mahesh Babu is seen as Lord Rama, holding a bow and looking towards the sea. The poster reads, "Mahesh Babu as Sri Rama." Although the makers haven't officially released this poster yet, it is being shown in theaters.


I got goosebumps - Rajamouli.
During the film's launch, Rajamouli revealed that he had shot a special portion of the Ramayana for the film for 60 days. He said, "The first day when Mahesh came for the photoshoot dressed as Shri Ram, I got goosebumps. Mahesh has the charm of Krishna, but also the calmness of Ram. I even made that photo my wallpaper, but then removed it."

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu told Screen Rant Plus that he had to undergo rigorous preparation to play the role of Shri Ram. Rajamouli demanded perfection in every detail. He underwent rigorous training to get the right movements and body language. Furthermore, he also learned Kerala's ancient martial art, 'Kalari', for three months.



When will the film release?
'Varanasi' is said to be a globe-trotting adventure film, with the story spanning different time periods and countries. Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran will also be seen in important roles alongside Mahesh Babu. This much-awaited film will release in theaters on April 7, 2027.
