Lula da Silva Delhi Visit 2026: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Saturday announced the inauguration of the first office of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX) in New Delhi. “This agency works to promote Brazilian products and services abroad and attract foreign investment in strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy,” President Lula said in a social media post.


He told that Brazil and India are two big countries of the Global South. “We will have a trade volume of US$15.2 billion by 2025, with huge potential for further growth.” On this occasion, many ministers and Apex President George Viana were also present with him.


Brazilian President has reached India


The President of Brazil has arrived in India this week on a high-level state visit. He is joined by the largest-ever business delegation of more than 260 Brazilian companies, some 14 cabinet ministers and several top CEOs. This visit is taking place at a time when global trade is witnessing changes due to the tariff measures imposed by US President Donald Trump. In such a situation, India and Brazil are trying to further strengthen their trade and economic relations.


President Lula also participated in the AI ​​Impact Summit held in New Delhi. He expressed his views on issues such as technology, digital public infrastructure and the role of artificial intelligence in inclusive development. With this, technical cooperation has emerged as a new and emerging dimension in India-Brazil relations.


Bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi


President Lula will hold extensive bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 21. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two leaders will review the entire scope of bilateral relations. The talks will include topics like trade, investment, energy, defense cooperation, digital technology and people-to-people contacts. Besides, the two leaders will also discuss issues to cooperation in multilateral fora, reform of global governance and the Global South.



India and Brazil The relations were given the status of strategic partnership in the year 2006. This relationship has grown stronger over time, based on shared democratic values ​​and a common vision of inclusive development. The two countries have also been cooperating closely in multilateral fora such as BRICS, IBSA, G20, United Nations, WTO and UNESCO. This visit of President Lula is being considered to give a new impetus to the economic cooperation between India and Brazil in the era of restructuring of global supply chains.
